MALDIVES best known as “the paradise on earth” is a year-round destination with sun kissed white sandy beaches, turquoise lagoon and a rich marine life. Though Maldives maintains a constant temperature which varies from 28ºC to 30ºC, the climate in the Maldives is driven by two major monsoons, “North East Monsoon” and “South West Monsoon”
North East Monsoon or the “peak season” of Maldivian tourism industry is mainly the dry season of Maldives which lasts from December to April. During this season the rainfall and humidity will be mainly low with bright sun and clear sky, making it ideal for tourists to travel to Maldives. During this period the visibility is superb for snorkeling and diving
South West Monsoon or the wet season of Maldives is categorized by stronger winds and rain, making this as the “off season” for the tourism industry. During this season most of the resorts will offer great deals which you can keep on track always. The visibility isn’t as good but you can still enjoy the amazing marine life of the Maldives.
It’s also important to note the weather pattern in the last few years has been much harder to predict as heavy rains and thunderstorms were experienced in November and December as well
The best season for surfers is from March to October where most of the hotels will be at their cheapest. There are famous surfing points in the Maldives and I will bring you details in another article.
